Floaters
Eye problems are a common symptom associated with Fibromyalgia and they are as wide and varied as the individual living with Fibromyalgia. The problems range from floaters, to dry eyes, to problems driving at night.
Floaters are tiny specks that float in a person’s field of vision. They happen when the fluid like substance within the eye shrinks away. Once this happens, the fluid then becomes stringy and this casts tiny shadows across the eye, causing the floaters. Floaters are often described as black specks that dart around across the eye and can be quite annoying. The first few times it happens, you may even think something has darted across the room. Try focusing or following one of these floaters and they disappear.
For most of us, floaters appear as we age and in that respect are fairly natural and normal. But for someone who is suffering with Fibromyalgia, they can be disconcerting, at first frightening and very annoying.
It should be noted that if you find that you are sufferer from a large amount of floaters and or blurred vision, flashing lights and other visual disturbance, please seek urgent medical attention.
